The Water and Sanitation Deputy Minister, Hon. Liana Kakhobwe Chapota, MP, visited CRBW’s water works in Ntchisi on 27 February, 2023. Mr. Joseph Magwira, representing the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Water and Sanitation, as well as other Directors from the Ministry, accompanied her.
The Board Chairman, Mr. Eddison Mombera and other Directors, Management and Staff welcomed her and the entire delegation at Ntchisi CRWB Offices.
The Board Chairman informed the Deputy Minister that, despite some interventions carried out in the past years, Ntchisi Town continued to face supply challenges to the extent that most residents, go hours without water. He requested the Deputy Minister to assist the Board with more interventions in order to alleviate water supply challenges at the Boma.
Member of Parliament for Ntchisi South, Hon. Ulemu Chilapondwa, echoed the Board Chairman and compared current situation to the past. He informed that in the past, when the population at the town was relatively small, the supply was reasonable. With the grown population at the town, most residents are badly hit with water supply challenges and that the situation at Ntchisi Hospital is dire due to intermittent water supply. He called for urgent interventions to mitigate the water challenges at the Boma.
In her remarks, the Deputy Minister noted with deep concern the challenges affecting water supply at Ntchisi Town. She assured the audience that she will knock on relevant doors to secure water supply interventions for the town.
She appreciated the hard-working desire of Management and staff that are working in such challenging circumstances. She encouraged them to keep working hard.
