CENTRAL REGION WATER BOARD: A DOUBLE TRIUMPH IN THE PURSUIT OF TRANSPARENCY
In a testament to its unwavering commitment to transparency and accountability, the Central Region Water Board (CRWB) achieved not one but two prestigious accolades in the year 2023.
First Triumph: Malawi Human Rights Commission Assessment
On the 28th of September 2023, the CRWB earned an esteemed award for its exemplary performance in the Access to Information Act.
Second Triumph: Public Relations Society of Malawi Annual Awards
The first accolade was, obviously, impressive. Yet, what followed, was nothing short of extraordinary. Just a few days later, on the 6th of October 2023, CRWB was awarded “Access to Information Compliant Institution" at the Public Relations Society of Malawi's annual awards, held in Mangochi.
The award was presented to the Board’s Public Relations Manager, Zephelino Mitumba, who stood tall as the embodiment of the organization's unwavering commitment to openness. The Society's President, bestowed this prestigious honor upon CRWB, recognising its outstanding efforts in championing access to information.
A Belief in the Right to Be Informed
Central Region Water Board's achievements, go far beyond the trophies and certificates it has received. CRWB believes that every human being, irrespective of their circumstances, has an innate right to be informed. CRWB has not only embraced this belief but has put it into action, making it a cornerstone of the organizational culture.
These twin triumphs in the realm of access to information, serve as a powerful reminder that institutions can play a pivotal role in empowering citizens through knowledge. CRWB's journey from recognition by the Malawi Human Rights Commission to the prestigious PR Annual Awards, demonstrates that dedication to transparency is not just a noble ideal but a practical reality that yields tangible results.
As CRWB continues its mission to serve the central region of Malawi, it carries with it the pride of these achievements and the responsibility to uphold the principles of transparency and accountability. The CRWB has shown that no matter the challenges, unwavering commitment to the public's right to know can lead to accolades that shine brightly on the path to a more informed and empowered society.
