Background Information

Central Region Water Board is a public commercial-statutory corporation established by the Waterworks Act No. 17 of 1995 to produce and provide water services to all districts in the Central Region of Malawi apart from Lilongwe City.

The Board operates in20 schemes grouped into five zones as follows:

KasunguZone:
Kasungu, Mchinji and Kochilira-Kamwendo

MponelaZone:
Mponela, Ntchisi, Madisi and Dowa

Dedza Zone:
Dedza, DedzaSecondary School, Bembeke, Linthipe and Ntcheu

Salima Zone:
Salima, Senga-Bay (Salima Lakeshore), Chipoka, Nkhota-kota, Lifuwu and DwangwaM.

Mitundu Zone:
Mitundu and Bunda

These schemes have own and different water sources. Some use surface water sources, others use ground water sources while others use both sources.
